Gilbert Martinez, Ph.D.

Dr. Gilbert Martinez
is a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Licensed Psychologist (Texas #30473) and has been
practicing in the San Antonio area since 1996. He
earned Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Houston and completed
internship training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Following extensive training within various neurology and
rehabilitation services in the Houston/Galveston area, including Baylor College
of Medicine and Del Oro Institute for Rehabilitation, Dr. Martinez relocated to
his native San Antonio and established an independent practice focusing on
providing assessment and intervention services for individuals with a broad
range of neurological disabilities, including traumatic brain injury, stroke,
Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and other conditions producing
cognitive and emotional disorders. He is a staff Neuropsychologist with
privileges in several hospital systems in the San Antonio area, and has
regularly provided services for the Department of Veterans Affairs and the
Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services. Dr. Martinez is also
routinely appointed by courts to serve as an expert in neuropsychological
assessment in both civil and criminal matters, including regular appointments
on death penalty cases. He also serves as an Oral Examiner of Doctoral
Licensure Candidates with the Texas State Board of Examiner’s of Psychologists.
As director of South Texas Neuropsychological Associates, PLLC, Dr. Martinez
also serves as a sub-investigator on pharmaceutical studies evaluating the
effectiveness of innovative medical treatment for Alzheimer’s and multiple
sclerosis and operates a clinical practice providing services for children and
adults. Long term professional affiliations include the International
Neuropsychological Society, National Academy of Neuropsychology, and Texas
Psychological Association. Dr. Martinez was also recently elected to serve as
president of the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society in 2012 and speaks
regularly at professional conferences on topics related to neuropsychological
assessment, traumatic brain injury, mental disorders, seizure disorders,
Alzheimer’s disease, Spanish neuropsychological assessment, and dementia.
L. Karina Garcia-Bravo, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Karina Garcia-Bravo
earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from The University of
Texas at Austin and is a licensed
psychologist (Texas #34290). She completed
her internship and postdoctoral residency at the South Texas Veterans Health
Care System, where she specialized in clinical geropsychology and rural mental
health. She has worked with patients in diverse settings through her broad training and work experiences,
including VA hospitals and hospice units, brain injury rehabilitation programs,
university counseling centers, and private practice. Dr. Garcia-Bravo has extensive experience working with a wide range
of clinical issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, cognitive disabilities, relationship
issues, caregiver burden, dementia, aging issues, grief and
loss, rehabilitation and adjustment difficulties. Her professional
interests include aging issues, depression, anxiety, neuropsychological
and geriatric neuropsychological assessment, Latino mental health and bilingual
psychotherapy, and rehabilitation. Dr. Garcia-Bravo particularly enjoys working
with older adults and providing neuropsychological assessment
and psychological counseling services in Spanish.
Alisa Zinsmeyer Young, M.A., LPC, NCC

Alisa Zinsmeyer Young,
M.A. is certified by the NBCC, National Board for Certified Counselors, and is
a licensed professional counselor. She received her undergraduate degree at Baylor University in Communication
Disorders and graduate degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio in Community
Counseling. She has taught at elementary and university levels. She became well
versed in rehabilitation, neurological disorders and brain injuries during her
internship at HEALTHSOUTH Rehabilitation Institute of San Antonio (RIOSA),
where she began providing counseling and psychometric services. She has
continued providing neuropsychology services in the San Antonio area. Alisa has also
participated as a sub-investigator in clinical trials exploring the effects of interventions
on various cognitive and neurological disorders. Alisa's primary areas of
interest are counseling individuals who may be having difficulties adjusting to
a recent diagnosis, anxiety, depression, health and physical disabilities, life
management, women's issues and leading various support groups.
Carrie Lunceford, M.A., LPC, NCC
Licensed Professional Counselor
National Certified Counselor
Carrie Lunceford, M.A. is certified by the
NBCC, National Board for Certified Counselors, and is a licensed professional
counselor. She received her undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University in Psychology and
graduate degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio in Community
Counseling. Past experience has included providing academic services through
teaching and guidance counseling as well as substance abuse counseling for
teens within the juvenile probation system. She has worked with South Texas
Neuropsychological Associates since 2005, initially providing assessment and
later expanding her practice to include psychotherapy as well. Carrie also
participates as a sub-investigator in clinical trials exploring the effects of
interventions on various cognitive and neurological disorders. Carrie’s primary
areas of interest are anxiety, depression, health and physical disabilities,
adolescent issues, and stress management.
Delia Munoz, LPC-S
Licensed Professional Counselor
Director of Pediatric Assessment
Delia Munoz has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education
from the University of Texas at San Antonio and received her Masters in Mental
Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is a
Licensed Professional Counselor and a licensed supervisor for counselors in
training. Delia has over 10 years experience working with youth, families and
adults in private practice and in home settings. She completed her internship
under the supervision of Dr. Gilbert Martinez at the Easter Seals
Rehabilitation Center. Delia specializes in providing psychotherapy and
psychometric assessment for individuals suffering from neurological and mental
disability, cognitive, mood and behavioral disorders. She has extensive
experience working with children and adolescents addressing self-esteem issues,
behavior problems, academic difficulties, learning disabilities, and attention
disorders. Delia provides assessment and therapeutic services in Spanish.
Stephanie C. Mappes, M.A. Psychometrician
Stephanie Mappes, M.A. received her undergraduate degree
in Psychology at The University of Texas at San
Antonio and her graduate degree in Clinical
Psychology at St. Mary's University. Stephanie currently provides
psychometric services to the practice for young adults, older adults,
disability and forensic related cases. She is also currently working
toward becoming a Licensed Psychological Associate to expand her practice to
provide psychotherapy services. Her future counseling interests include:
rehabilitative therapy for traumatic brain injury, adjusting to disability,
deficit awareness, stress management, and leading related support groups.
